What are phrasal verbs?

Before we study the phrasal verbs in-depth, it’s important to review what they actually are!

  • A phrasal verb is made up of a verb + preposition / adverb
  • They are used in everyday English conversation.
  • They usually have more than one meaning, so they can be confusing!
  • The meaning is often not connected to the meaning of the verb. For example: “Shut Up!” has nothing to do with “going up”
