I share some common English proverbs, some of my favourite quotes, and then end with an exercise to improve your life and achieve your dreams and goals.
Vocabulary
Quote – Something that someone else said, indicated with “quotation marks”
Maxim, Aphorism, Proverb – These words are so similar, they essentially have the same meanings. These are phrases that are often said that have a deep meaning
Literal – Understanding something exactly as it is written
Cryptic – A hidden message that you have to think carefully about to understand
Quotes & Proverbs Mentioned
- Everything in moderation – Don’t try too much of anything
- Practice makes perfect – Keep practising and you will get better
- Don’t put all your eggs in one basket – Don’t put all your hopes in one area
- Beggars can’t be choosers – if you ask for something, you shouldn’t be picky about what you are given
- Everything you do in the present is a gift to your future self
- How you do anything is how you do everything
- If someone takes something from you, don’t let them take your mind too.
Playing safe is one of the most dangerous things you can do because you’re risking dying with regret.
