Level Up English Podcast 164 Rejection Therapy

Rejection Therapy

I came across a man online who challenged himself to get rejected 100 times. He did this for a few reasons that I discuss in the episode today.

Benefits of Rejection Therapy

  • Stop people-pleasing
  • Helps you get more comfortable with embarrassment
  • Not caring what people think
  • It reminds us we’re human
  • Opens up new potential opportunities

English Expressions for Rejection

The general rule of thumb is:

Good thing + Reason

or

Apology + Reason

I’m sorry but I can’t

I’d love to but…

I appreciate the offer but…

That’s very kind of you but…

Actually, I think I’m going to pass on it if you don’t mind.

Not right now, maybe later.

I’m afraid I can’t tonight

I’ll have a think about it and get back to you
