#174 A Daily Language Learning Routine

A Daily Language Learning Routine

I thought it would be a nice time to give a 2022 update on my current language learning routine and what my daily schedule looks like. Hopefully it gives you some ideas on how you can shape your own routines and if there’s anything you’d like to tweak or add.

I talk about my morning and afternoon routines, how many languages I”m learning, my levels in each one, and even give you some examples of my speaking them!

My Language Learning Routine in 2022

Each Morning

  • 6:20 – Study Japanese flashcards on Anki
  • 6:35 – Reading (15 minutes)
  • 6:50 – Writing practice using new words
  • 7:00 – Listening on YouTube (15 minutes)
  • 7:40 – Memrise flashcards – Cornish and one more language

Afternoon: Study on Chinesepod.com

Once a week: Lesson with a tutor

What does your routine look like? Leave it in the comments!

  1. How do you use Anki? There are a lot of apps in the market. Why is Anki? How dou you add a flashcards? Any example? Thanks

    1. Hi Alex, great question! I personally prefer Anki because it has a simple interface. There are no colourful mascots, points to earn or adverts. Just simple software. I also find it easy to add my own cards to it.
I wrote a post on my other website some time ago about how to use Anki. Maybe that could help? https://www.ewmichael.com/anki/

  2. I listen to the level up English Podcast for 20-27 mins , I read for 20 minutes.. after I read I write a summary about what I learned so I learned 3 skills at one time , reading, writing and speaking.. sometimes I watch grammar videos . Thank you so much for your effort , I add your Podcast to my daily routine for learning English, it’s so useful.
