Moving Abroad
I’ve been living in Bangkok, Thailand since the beginning of August, so it’s been over 2 months now. This is the longest I’ve spent in one place outside of my home country before. One of our group class students requested an episode sharing my thoughts and experiences after moving here, and I decided to give it a go.
In this episode, I’ll be talking about what’s changed here and some big differences I’ve noticed between the UK and Thailand. I’ll be sharing the good and the bad, things I miss and things I prefer here. I’ll also be talking about moving abroad and relocating more generally and will mention some useful vocabulary related to this topic.
Making Big Decisions
If you’re facing the decision to move abroad or do something else equally huge and scary, perhaps these mindsets will help you decide.
- Always jump at opportunities to make big changes in your life
- We more often regret what we don’t do, rather than what we do do
- Despite how we might feel, most changes are not irreversible. We can always go back to where we were before if we’re not happy.
““And then there is the most dangerous risk of all–the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later”.
– Randy Komisar

Welcome to Thailand. I hope you enjoy living here. I love to listen to an opinion from foreigners. I love going abroad, too. I am going to Italy for a week next month. I’m very exiting! I’m practicing English with your podcast. Thank you for updating all interesting episodes.
Thanks so much! I am loving my time here so far and it’s generally the friendliness of the people who make it amazing. I’m a little jealous, you’re going to Italy later though, so have a great time! Maybe you could bring my podcast with you and that will be the closest I can be getting there 😅
