How to reinvent yourself 2026 Level Up English podcast new year

How to Reinvent Yourself in 2026

This is the episode I’ve been excited about for months! In the final episode of the year, I’ll be going in detail about what you can do to set goals and become the best version of yourself in 2026.

I’ll start by going through my process this year of how you can best do this. It involves writing a review of the good and bad of the previous year, so you can appreciate your successes and think about what could have gone better.

We then talk about planning for the year ahead, and break it apart into categories, and then finally set some actionable habits so you can make progress towards these goals.

I also spend a lot of time sharing personal details from my own review, so you can see what it looks like, and also learn (and laugh) at my mistakes.

Don’t forget to use my simple template below to write your own review.

Episode Summary

These are some of the main lessons I mentioned at the end of the episode.

Aim for Averages, Not Perfection 📊

If you go to the gym 29 times and miss one day, that's a success - not a failure. Progress is about the overall pattern, not individual moments.

Flexible Goals Reduce Pressure 🎯

Setting an average target (like 11,000 steps per day) gives you room for off days while still keeping you on track. It also gamifies the process.

Sometimes You Need to Subtract ➖

Not every goal requires adding something new. Often, removing distractions, bad habits, or unnecessary commitments is more powerful.

January 1st Isn't Magic 📅

You can start a new habit any day of the year. The pressure of becoming a "new person" on January 1st leads most people to fail.

Small Habits Compound 🌱

Tiny, consistent actions add up over time. What seems insignificant today can lead to remarkable results months from now.

One Simple Reflection ✍️

If you only do one thing today, complete this sentence: "This year, I want more ___ and less ___."

    To London:
My goal is to be fluent in British English because I prefer British to American. I’ve been listening to this podcast for about 5 days. Never have I ever had this habit before. I also listen to other podcasts (including Luke ) and YouTube videos too. I’ll be listening to this podcast in future and I really appreciate it. Have a blessed one and peace out.

Maybe you heard, that’s also my goal this year! It’s always tough to get more speaking practice.

Personally, I’m increasing my lesson time and having more online lessons in the week. I’ve also been doing a simple morning practice where I record an audio diary for 5-10 minutes in the language, which has been a great way to practice speaking alone and practice some new words.

Ultimately, there are many ways to practice speaking, but the most important thing is getting as much practice time as you can.

    📊 PART 1: REVIEW 2025

    What Went Well
    ────────────────────────────────────────
    List things you’re proud of:
    • I graduated from high school with 97%
    • I got accepted in King Abdulaziz University
    • I was more consistent with my skin care and hair care routine
    • I passed the IELTS exam with 6.5 score without studying alot .
    • My personality grew more and I started to understand the past traps .

Details (write about them in as much detail as you’d like):
Being accepted in a university in Saudi Arabia as non – saudi is extremely hard so I had to study hard and push myself to its limits , after the high school I dicoverd that I lost the feeling of creativity and happiness in life, actually that happened before high school because of my family they are good but they are humans . I didn’t hadmuch time to try more things and enjoy challenging myself cause university was ahead and I had to get at least 4.75 so my scholarship continue, I was afraid but I told myself that I had lost enough and that I should take care of my skin and hair so I made a big change by keep nugging over my parents to let me use the money I saved from my pocket money they were refusing but agreed at the end , I was right when I bought them instead of cheap relevants my parents suggested, I was sure of myself and kept doing my routine and I saw real results by picture I took every month . Surprisingly, since I went to uni I felt that there is a hope I can break the chain .

    What Didn’t Go Well
    ────────────────────────────────────────
List things you gave up on or failed at:
    • Can’t be consistent with any habit or hobby .

Details (write about them in as much detail as you’d like):
It was because of fear of being in the wrong way or over do it .
